Taiko Drummers at Descanso Gardens

Sunday morning, I caught a powerful and entertaining TAIKO DRUM performance by the Kishin Daiko drummers at Descanso Garden. Although archaeological evidence indicates that taiko were present in Japan during the 6th century, Kumi-daiko performances, characterized by an ensemble like this playing on different drums, were developed and popularized only as recently as 1951. This great performance was part of Descanso's annual Japanese Garden Celebration!
