A Halloween Tradition: Carla Laemmle

A HALLOWEEN TRADITION! I always post this picture on Halloween. It's me and the late CARLA LAEMMLE, arguably the First Lady of horror movies. When this picture was taken she was 100 years old! She played a ballerina in the silent PHANTOM OF THE OPERA with Lon Chaney and she utters the first line of dialogue spoken in Bela Lugosi's DRACULA! She was the niece of Universal Pictures studio founder Carl Laemmle and one of the longest surviving actors of the silent film era. Her career in motion pictures was also one of the longest on record, spanning 1925 to 2014. HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!
