Twenty-five years ago, when I first told my boss, executive producer Avi Arad, that I wanted to feature MADAME WEB in my SPIDER-MAN animated series, plucking her out of comic book obscurity and bringing her to the screen for the very first time, he was not enthusiastic. "I can't make a toy out of an old broad," he grumbled. I persevered and used her anyway, featuring her prominently in my ramp-up to SPIDER-MAN saving all of reality at the end of my series, during which I invented what is now called the "Spider-Verse" (*ahem*🙄). Once again, years later, Sony appears to be mining creative territory that I explored first. And, by the way, Avi Arad DID end up making a toy out of the "old broad." 😁 It's one of my most prized possessions!
